"A collective name for the eight friendly and picturesque villages”
De Acht Zaligheden - the Eight Glories - is a collective name for the eight friendly and picturesque villages in the Dutch Kempen. One of these villages is Eersel, but this historic name also covers Duizel, Hulsel, Knegsel, Netersel, Reusel, Steensel and Winterle. It’s no coincidence that the names of these villages (almost) all end in ‘-sel’. But what makes these villages into the Eight Glories? And what unique activities are worth visiting? One thing is certain: these authentic Brabant villages ooze an atmosphere of indulgent conviviality and the good life.
Kempen Museum De Acht Zaligheden
A great way to supplement your cycle, motorbike or car route through the various villages is a visit to Kempen Museum De Acht Zaligheden. This welcoming museum shows in an interactive way what life in the Kempen was like up to 1950. Discover unique household objects, stories, traditional Dutch games and the fantastic flower and herb garden, all dedicated to the past. Kempen Museum De Acht Zaligheden is open every day. An entrance ticket costs € 6.50 for adults and € 2.50 for children. You can book a guided tour in advance.
